Background/Summary: 

At the September 15, 2021 City Council Meeting staff provided a presentation on Fire Station 86, including information and analyses related to the construction of the station at its present site, on Singer Island, or alternative sites.  The presentation was to obtain direction from Council related to the location of Fire Station 86 at a new location.   Based upon the input of Council and members of the public, staff needs more time to pursue other options for the location of Fire Station 86. 

In light of the above, staff is recommending we commence the construction of Fire Station 87.  It is proposed that Fire Station 87 be located on West Blue Heron Boulevard between Broadway and Barack Obama Highway, on city-owned land. However, before construction can commence, Council approval is needed for Fire Station 87 to replace Fire Station 86 in all required or necessary bond documentation.
