| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | THE RIVIERA BEACH COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (RBCRA) RECOGNIZES THAT SMALL BUSINESSES ARE THE BACKBONE OF OUR LOCAL ECONOMY. AS WE EMBARK UPON NEW AND EXPANDED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES HERE IN THE CITY OF RIVIERA BEACH, WE NEED TO ENSURE THAT WE HAVE EXCELLENT SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT FOR INCENTIVES, CAPACITY BUILDING, TRAINING, AND REMOVAL OF BARRIERS TO GROWTH. THIS APPROACH ENCOMPASSES RECOGNITION OF THE IMPORTANT COMPONENT THAT ENTREPRENEURS PLAY IN ATTRACTING REVITALIZATION PROJECTS AND INVESTMENT TO OUR NEIGHBORHOODS. ADDITIONALLY, OUR SMALL BUSINESSES SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL FINANCIAL LOSS DUE TO THE ADVERSE ECONOMIC IMPACTS CAUSED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. IN RESPONSE TO ALL OF THESE IMPACTS ON OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES AND THE CITY OF RIVIERA BEACH'S ECONOMY, TO ALLEVIATE THE SPREAD OF SLUM AND BLIGHT, AND TO PROTECT THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IN THE COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT AREA, THE RBCRA HAS CREATED THE RBCRA SMALL BUSINESS INCUBATOR PROGRAM – IRIVIERABEACH (“IRIVIERABEACH"). THE PROGRAM IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE CAPACITY BUILDING, IN-WALL SPACE, “POP UP” OPPORTUNITIES, MENTORSHIP, INCENTIVES, LEVERAGE, AND FINANCIAL SOFT LOANS AND GRANTS, AS WELL AS RENT SUBSIDIES, WITHIN THE RBCRA AREA. POTENTIALLY, THIS PROGRAM CAN BE EXPANDED TO COVER THE ENTIRE CITY. |
