Background/Summary: 

Kwamain O’Neal filed a claim against the City of Riviera Beach for personal injuries he sustained on October 8, 2018, in Riviera Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida.

On or about February 26, 2020, the Plaintiff advised the City that the Plaintiff intended to file suit against the City for personal injuries sustained by the Plaintiff, alleging the City’s police officer used excessive force by allowing a police dog to bite the Plaintiff.

 

Both counsel for Mr. O’Neal and the City negotiated this matter and counsel for the City, Risk Management, and representatives of Gallagher Bassett concur that settlement in the amount of Fifty-Five Thousand Dollars ($55,000) is in the City’s best interest, subject to City Council approval.
