The city of Riviera Beach is home to the Max Fisher Branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County (the Club). The organization has provided services to the city, the county and the country for decades. The City wishes to expand its relationship with the Club providing more opportunities for residents, teens and youth to receive services in the City.
The M.O.U. includes some of the following:
1. The Club taking over the management of the afterschool and summer camp programs presently run by the Parks and Recreation Department. The Boys and Girls Club excels in after and out of school services. With the Club managing these programs the recreation staff will be free to produce more recreation programs, thereby increasing the opportunity for the youth of the city.
2. Including use of Parks and Recreation facilities such as the gyms and Barracuda Bay on a scheduled basis. This would allow the Club to conduct fundraisers and Club wide activities at our larger spaces.
3. Maintaining the grounds of the Max Fisher Branch.
4. Jointly submitting grant applications for programs and services in the city.
5. Providing swim lessons to club member’s through the Drowning Prevention coalition.
6. Involvement by the Police and Fire Departments in mentoring activities for Club members.
7. CPR and first aid instruction provided by Fire Rescue
8. Participation by City departments in the Clubs family nights and other activities.
9. City sponsorship of 10 youth per summer.
The Boys and Girls Club in return will provide:
1. Provide and conduct program informational opportunities for participants.
2. Provide programs and services for City youth regardless of any common deterrents such as economics, transportation, parent involvement, etc.….
3. Permit the City to use, by reservation, of its gym for programs and services.
4. Provide the City with reporting re: participation, growth and need.
5. The Club will ensure that all of the laws and practices required are followed such as background screening of employees, volunteers, etc.….
