On September 16, 2020, the City Council approved Resolution 79-20, which authorized the execution of a Lease Amendment for the Police Departments Evidence Warehouse located at 6557 Garden Road, Units 11-13, Riviera Beach, Florida. The Property was recently sold to KODA Interstate LLC, therefore requiring a lease amendment with the new owner. The amendment maintains the original terms and conditions.
The Police Department utilizes leased warehouse space to store vehicles and property seized pending Court action. Currently, the City does not own a facility which can store such property, therefore, the Police Department must use an outside source. The storing of vehicles and large property seized in criminal investigations is a mandated function of the Riviera Beach Police Department. Items stored at this facility must be maintained in a secure environment until the disposition is ordered through a formal Court action or process.
The term of the Lease Agreement is five years (60 months), commencing on September 1, 2020 and expires on August 31, 2025. The Lease Agreement includes an annual rent increase of 3%. The lease contains a monthly rent amount of $7,082.25, for the first year of the term, and a total 5-year cost of $459,235. The leased space includes Units 11-13 and consists of 11,085 square feet.
The amended lease has been reviewed for Legal Sufficiency by the City Attorney's Office.
