Recommendation/Motion: 

That the City Council approves the three year interlocal agreement between the City of Riviera Beach and Palm Beach County Drowning Prevention Coalition and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the interlocal agreement to accept vouchers for payment for swim lessons at the Barracuda Bay Aquatic Complex.

Background/Summary: 

Palm Beach County, through its Drowning Prevention Coalition ("DPC") Learn to Swim Program distributes vouchers to the public that may be redeemed for swimming lessons at designated aquatic facilities within Palm Beach County. The City's Parks and Recreation Department has offered DPC vouchers for the past 12 years. The vouchers provide free swim lessons to individuals at the Barracuda Bay Aquatic Complex, which is a designated facility.

 

All swim lessons are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Swim lessons for residents are $30.00 and $40.00 for non-residents per two-week sessions. Swim lessons are offered at Barracuda Bay Aquatic Complex from April 2021 through September 2021.
