Given the urgency to address aging facilities and the associated impacts, staff is advancing a very aggressive and robust timeline to construct municipal facilities. Accordingly, the prior funding allocation for Reimagine Riviera Beach, which was established during the budget process allocated $4 million dollars for:
1. The purchase of the property for the future temporary public library and Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) property,
2. Improvements to City Hall, and
3. The beginning of the planning process for a new Municipal Complex.
Further, since the budget approval, other improvements have been identified such as:
1. Specialized furniture for the temporary public library and YEP programs,
2. The creation of a police substation,
3. Secure parking at the Lindsay Davis Community Center, and
4. Furnishings for the temporary Fire Station 87 to be located at the Wells Recreation property.
Public Library and YEP Program
Renovations at the temporary public library and YEP building are ongoing and anticipated to be complete in early June 2021. To that end, staff is currently planning a grand opening on June 19, 2021, to correlate with the end of the school year. The existing library located at City Hall will be demolished in July of this year to allow for proper moving of all necessary furniture and materials from the building prior to demolition.
Fire Station 87
The City Council approved the $1.6 million dollar temporary Fire Station 87 at Wells Recreation Complex through Resolution Number 21-21 on February 17, 2021. Subsequently, on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, staff conducted a pre-application meeting with the Development Services team to discuss the preliminary site plan shown below and is in the process of finalizing the site plan for submittal. The current project is anticipated to be completed toward the end of the 3rd quarter of 2021. Depicted below is the site plan of the respective project.
