Background/Summary: 

In March of 2020, the City shut down all recreation activities and facilities due to the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic.

The Municipal Beach and the surrounding area is very popular for amateur athletics and special events. We host special events, volleyball tournaments, soccer tournaments, beach tennis tournaments and running and cycling races.

The Jeeps on the Island event and the Triathlon of the Palm Beaches were two of several events impacted by the shutdown.

Both events have returned to Riviera Beach bringing economic impact, overnight stays and recreation.

In order to produce these events safely, the North Ocean Avenue section behind the Ocean Mall should be temporarily closed.

 

Both events will be the weekend of April 30- May 2, 2021. This is due to statewide activities calendar and our desire to wait until spring to host these events.

 

Road Closure is:

Palm Beach’s Triathlon: Friday April 30 Noon until Saturday May 1, 2021 Noon

Jeeps on the Island: Saturday May 1, 2021 until Sunday May 2, 2021 8 p.m.

 

Both entities are required to follow the special event policy and provide a Covid plan, that they are responsible for enforcing.
