| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | As indicated in the January 6, 2021 memo to the Utility Special District Board from Mr. Evans and Mr. Batista, there is an ongoing effort to triage the processes at the water treatment plant while two contractors are available. Over the past several months three high service pumps became inoperable due to electrical issues (e.g. FPL load control test, UPS backup power failing) – pumps 1,4 and 5. Although there are several pumps and motors ready to be installed and in storage at the plant, there are a variety of issues that prevent operations staff from bringing pumps back online, necessitating the need for expert third party support. With only 2 high service pumps out of 7 operational, if one were to fail we would not be able to maintain pressure in the distribution system, and if both failed we would not be able to pump water to customers.
GlobalTech has completed an evaluation of the high service pumps to determine which could be brought back into service the ,028.69. USD staff requested a proposal from GlobalTech to immediately mitigate this situation by working to rehabilitate two additional high service pumps, to bring a total of 4 in operable status. Furthermore, staff is working with City of West Palm Beach and Seacoast to determine the interconnect capacity available in an emergency situation. |
