| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | Pursuant to the prior comprehensive review and recommendations of the City’s Charter Review Advisory Board in 2017-2018, the City Council has determined that certain amendments (the “Charter Amendments”) to the City Charter should be considered for adoption, as provided herein.
Pursuant to Section 166.031, Florida Statutes, as applicable, the City Council is required to submit Charter Amendments to the electors of the City for approval or rejection.
This proposed Charter Amendment seeks to amend Section 1 "Adoption of state law" of Article VI "Local Improvements" by repealing special assessments that require fifty percent (50%) of the cost of all street and secondary drainage improvements to be paid by the benefited property owner and that council may determine the assessments for curbs, gutters, valley gutters, and sidewalks. |
