The City of Riviera Beach Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Art. III, Division 4 authorizes the city to establish advisory boards as a means of public input and oversight. Section 2-91 creates the Recreation Board, providing for seven (7) members appointed for a one (1) year term.
The current membership of the advisory board was appointed in 2017. Since their orientation on October 2, 2017, they have met 16 times.
The primary role of the advisory board has included, but not been limited to:
1. Revising the Advisory Board By-Laws;
2. Reviewing and commenting on parks and recreation grant applications;
3. Providing feedback from community on parks and recreation issues;
4. Representing the advisory board at City events and functions; and
5. Providing feedback and input to the parks and recreation master plan and process.
