On September 24, 2020 the City Council approved Resolution 86-20 awarding Bid 996-20-1 to Brothers Construction for the replacement of the Palm Beach Isles Bridges. During the bid process, the residents of Palm Beach Isles requested and were granted the redesign of the Grand Bahama Bridge to minimize impacts to the adjacent residents. The two residents along the south side the Grand Bahama would have had a portion of the property converted to a right of way to facilitate the bridges redesign as well as a slight shift of the centerline.

In meetings with the residents, it was agreed to redesign the bridge to keep the centerline as existing, eliminate the planter boxes, hang the utilities from underneath the bridge, and minimize the recovery area outside the travel lanes. Based on the modification described, the design team must start over on designing the bridge and provide the contractor an entirely new set of construction plans while the four Island Drive bridges are under construction.

Erdman Anthony shall provide the construction inspection and oversight of the project during the 16 month duration of construction while simultaneously addressing the Grand Bahama Bridge.
