K-9 Police Dog Millow, a nearly seven-year-old Sable Male German Shepherd was handled by former Police Officer William Louden. Officer Louden and K-9 Millow were partners for over four years.
K-9 Millow is certified in Patrol, Narcotics, and Tracking. During his service with the Riviera Beach Police Department, K-9 Millow served with distinction and was responsible for many narcotics arrests, suspect apprehensions, and evidence collection.
Traditionally, K-9 Officers have been given the first opportunity and option of adopting retired animals. At this time, the Department does not anticipate any future Law Enforcement use of such property. Accordingly, William Louden, a former Riviera Beach Police Officer who was the K-9 Officer for Millow, has been given permission to adopt the retiring shepherd.
There is no conflict with any existing City Policy in this Agenda Item. Consistent with practice, is the disposal of this property by sale. The method used when a K-9 Dog retires is to sell the animal, at nominal cost, by execution of a Bill of Sale, effectively removing the dog from City inventory.
