The Office of the City Attorney actively employs three (3) attorneys, and is budgeted to employ a paralegal and legal staff assistant. The Office of the City Attorney employed Angelia Gamble based on over thirty (30) years of experience in local government administrative support with an emphasis on litigation and claims.
The paralegal and legal staff assistant positions have not been filled and the Office of the City Attorney is in need of legal services from a skilled and trained professional having the commensurate experience with local government operations.
Given the Legal Department’s needs, on November 18, 2020, Ms. Gamble agreed to provide services as an Independent Contractor to the City on a limited hourly basis until the paralegal and legal staff assistant positions were filled. She has since been providing services for both positions, and other such terms as contained in a Personal Services Agreement.
Following the declared local State of Emergency, the City was unable to fill any positions or use the services of a temporary agency to perform the ongoing duties of the Office of the City Attorney, and therefore, relied on Ms. Gamble to perform increased legal services.
The Office of the City Attorney desires to continue to retain the services of Ms. Gamble as an Independent Contractor at an hourly rate of pay and which shall not exceed a total amount of $50,000 for one year. Such terms of the Agreement commence upon execution of the Personal Services Agreement (attached hereto), and expires within one year of said date, with an option for renewal for an additional twelve (12) months.
