In 2019, the City of Riviera Beach Public Library was provided $2,500 from Community Benefits Funds through then Council Chair KaShamba Miller-Anderson to assist in the creation and distribution of little free library boxes to local area businesses throughout the City. The former Library Director, Ms. Cynthia Cobb, worked in conjunction with Inlet Grove High School’s Art Department to arrange for the creation of the boxes, reflecting artwork created by local area high school seniors. The Digital Design Instructor of Inlet Grove High School, Ms. Arenthia Baker, led fourteen of her students to create and design the boxes being presented this evening.
Ms. Cobb and the Children’s Librarian, Sharmain Arnold, researched and communicated with several area businesses to identify ideal locations for the boxes. Ms. Arnold and the Assistant Director, Amy Dickinson, then worked with book publishers to identify and allocate books for each location. Through this initiative, these little free library boxes will be filled with free books and distributed to local businesses for residents to read and enjoy.
