Recommendation/Motion:

In the interest of the protecting the public health, safety, and welfare, it is recommended that the Board of Directors of the City of Riviera Beach Utility Special District approve this Resolution Number 07-20UD selecting Holtz Consulting Engineers, Inc. to provide emergency support services for the repairs and upgrades to wastewater Lift Station No. 41, located at Woodbine Trail, in the Woodbine subdivision.

The Lift Station Rehabilitation, Phase 1 Project is on pages 52 & 64 of the 5-year Capital Improvement Plan. Holtz Consulting Engineers Inc., to perform services for the rehabilitation of Lift Station No. 41 plus ten percent for potential change orders is in the amount of $169,379.10 which is less than the amount budgeted this fiscal year for the Lift Station Rehabilitation, Phase 1 Project.

Background/Summary:

The pumps and associated infrastructure at the Utility District’s wastewater Lift Station No. 41, located at Woodbine Trail, in the Woodbine subdivision have recently failed; and

Wastewater Lift Station No. 41 currently is operating in bypass mode with one pump connected to a temporary bypass hose; and

Lift Station No. 41 already had one 300 gallon spill earlier this year to the adjacent grassy area and to the adjacent road’s stormwater gutter; and

The wastewater that may have disease causing organisms may spill again and even back-up into the homes within the community; and

The Utility Special District has included lift station rehabilitation in its 5-year Capital Improvement Plan budget; and

This project will improve the integrity and reliability of the wastewater transmission system; and

The Utility Special District and Holtz Consulting Engineers, Inc. entered into contracts for consulting engineering design and construction support services on July 16, 2018; and

In the interest of the protecting the public health, safety, and welfare, the Utility Special District has asked Holtz Consulting Engineers, Inc. to provide emergency support services for the repairs and upgrades to wastewater Lift Station No. 41, located at Woodbine Trail, in the Woodbine subdivision.
