The Water and Wastewater Master Plan identified the need for redundancy in the sewer system and recommends the installation of a 16-inch inside diameter (I.D.) force main crossing the Intracoastal Waterway. The location of the force main crossing is anticipated to be from East 20th Street to Cascade Lane. The force main crossing shall connect to both lift stations 10 and 1A. It is estimated that the replacement will consist of approximately 5,500 LF of 16-inch I.D. force main installed via horizontal directional drill and 6,300 LF of 16-inch I.D. force main installed via open cut. The City of Riviera Beach Utility Special District intends to bid the project in two phases; one phase will include the Intracoastal Crossing and the other phase will include the pipe installed on the land side. All plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid schedules will be prepared separately for each phase.; and
The Utility Special District has included the improvement of the parallel 16-inch inside diameter force main crossing the Intracoastal Waterway in its 5-year Capital Improvement Plan budget; and
The primary purpose of this project is to provide an alternate route for the transmission wastewater due to the age of the existing force main, preventing loss of service, preventing a moratorium on development, and preventing possible environmental damage in the case of a failure; and
The Utility Special District and Chen Moore and Associates, Inc. entered into contracts for consulting engineering design and engineering support services on July 16, 2018; and
In the interest of the protecting the public health, safety, and welfare the Utility Special District has asked Chen Moore and Associates, Inc. to design and provide other engineering support services for the installation of the 16-inch inside diameter wastewater forcemain.
