At the April 15, 2020 city council meeting, city administration presented on the possibility of temporarily relocating the Library and Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) in the facility located at 2129 N. Congress Avenue. The presentation detailed the process and research that took place to support the consideration of the 2129 N. Congress Avenue parcel.
City Council directed staff to obtain additional information to bring forward at a subsequent council meeting for further consideration. Therefore, city administration conducted more research to provide clarity and address any questions or concerns the council may have.
City Administration believes that this facility is the optimal choice for immediate and future needs. It can temporarily house various city operations as we look to rebuild several facilities as part of the capital construction initiatives. It can serve as a community center geared towards economic recovery by facilitating education and workforce development and can transform into a space that accommodates city hall operations or other functions as well.
