The City’s annual submission of an application to Palm Beach County Department of Economic Sustainability for receipt of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for FY 2018-2019 for the reconstruction of Avenue “M” from West 23rd Street to West 27th Street; which is identified in the Northwest Neighborhood Strategy Area has been granted. This means that Palm Beach County has approved the application and is providing grant funding in the amount of $160,890 for the aforementioned project.
Avenue “M” Neighborhood Improvement Projects have been scheduled for reconstruction for fiscal year 2018-19. The Projects consist of demolition of the roadway, construction of asphalt pavement roadway, water system, sanitary sewer system, curb, gutter and improvements to sidewalks. The Project initiated construction in April 2019 and due to startup delays, Hurricane Dorian, and other logistical challenges, the Contractor has requested a contract time extension.
At the October 2, 2019 City Council meeting, Resolution 95-19 was authorized for the execution of Amendment 001 extending the contract with Palm Beach County to January 31, 2020. The contractor has requested another extension extending the Project’s time for construction until June 30, 2020 which also requires an amendment to the agreement with Palm Beach County.
