The business of the Riviera Beach Housing Authority (RBHA) is a public housing agency with a purpose to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing to the residents of Riviera Beach. The RBHA was established by the City of Riviera Beach through Resolution Number 173-68, which was adopted on December 4, 1968, under the State of Florida Statutes Chapter 421. The City Council adopted this resolution declaring that:
1. There are unsanitary and unsafe inhabited dwelling accommodations in the City of Riviera Beach, Florida; and
2. There is a shortage of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations in the City of Riviera Beach, Florida, available for persons of low-income as rentals they can afford; and
3. There is a need for a housing authority in the City of Riviera Beach, Florida.
The Riviera Beach Housing Authority Board is comprised of five (5) members who are all appointed by the Mayor to serve four-year terms. The term of Commissioner Delvin M. Thomas expired on January 18, 2020, and given this vacancy, the Mayor is recommending the appointment of Ms. Alexis Lockhart to fill this respective vacancy.
