| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | Jeannie Johnson filed suit against the City of Riviera Beach for personal injuries she sustained on January 3, 2015 at the Wells Recreation Center, Riviera Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida. On or about October 22, 2018, Ms. Johnson, the Plaintiff, filed a lawsuit against the City, Case No.: 502018CA013374XXXXMBAO, alleging the City was negligent in failing to maintain the Wells Recreation Center in a reasonably safe condition, free of dangerous or hazardous conditions of which it knew or should have known existed. Both counsel for Ms. Johnson and the City mediated and negotiated this matter on November 13, 2019 before a Certified Mediator. The parties continued to negotiate until February 2020. Counsel for the City, Risk Management and representatives of Gallagher Bassett concur that settlement in the total amount of $45,000 is in the City's best interest, subject to City Council approval. |
