The City’s Utility Special District Water Treatment Plant (WTP) experienced electrical issues including a voltage drop on Saturday, November 2, 2019 that caused damage to some of the WTP’s high service pumps. While the pumps were continually used their capacity has diminished and only a replacement of the pumps will keep them serviceable.
The Water Treatment Plant has seven (7) Turbine Potable Water High Service Pumps which are used to pump drinking water to the Distribution System. However, three (3) of the high service pumps are out of service at this time. These high service pumps have surpassed their useful life cycle. Unfortunately, the WTP is unable to consistently provide potable water service during the peak hours.
Upon approval of the purchase of four new turbine high service pumps (hsp) , the Water Treatment Plant would be able to efficiently provide adequate water pressure on a consistent basis to the public. The purchase of the fourth pump means continuity in the event another HSP becomes inoperable.
