The State of Florida Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Grant Program offers funding to EMS providers to expand and/or improve the delivery of Emergency Medical Services within the State of Florida. Since 1988, on September 19, 2019, the Fire Department requested and was approved to receive funding for EMS equipment through this grant process.
This respective grant process requires the Fire Department to identify a specific area of need that aligns with the goals (advanced monitoring and resuscitation equipment) set forth by the Department of Public Safety’s Office of Emergency Medical Services and the Palm Beach County Association of EMS Providers for review and approval. Once the project is approved, the Department must submit signed copies of an Inter-local Agreement to the Board of County Commissioners by March 1, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the County has granted an extension to the signing of the Interlocal Agreement.
The department will then purchase the EMS equipment through an account established by the Finance Department and submit a reimbursement package complete with a signed resolution to the Office of Emergency Medical Services. The Office of Emergency Medical Services must receive this request for reimbursement package by Thursday, December 31, 2020. There is no guarantee of reimbursement after this date.
There exist no conflicts in the Fire Department’s participation of this grant opportunity.
