Recommendation/Motion: 
Staff recommends that the City Council authorizes approval of the Inter-local Agreement between the City of Riviera Beach and the Palm Beach County Drowning Prevention Coalition for the acceptance of vouchers to cover the costs of swim lessons for eligible participants.

Background/Summary: 

Palm Beach County, through its Drowning Prevention Coalition ("DPC") Learn to Swim Program distributes vouchers to the public that may be redeemed for swimming lessons at designated aquatic facilities within Palm Beach County. The City's Parks and Recreation Department has offered DPC vouchers for the past 11 years. The vouchers provide free swim lessons to individuals at the Barracuda Bay Aquatic Complex, which is a designated facility.

All swim lessons are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Swim lessons for residents are $30.00 and $40.00 for non-residents per two-week sessions. Swim lessons are offered at Barracuda Bay Aquatic Complex from April 2020 through September 2020.
