There currently exists two vacancies on the Police Pension Board of Trustees. The term of office is for four (4) years and the board member seat expired on October 31, 2019. The Police Board consist of five members comprised of two members who are appointed by the City Council, two members who are elected by employees and a fifth member chosen by the majority of members and submitted to the City council for confirmation.
The City placed advertisments for the vacancy, which included the City’s website and Facebook page; however, the City received no new applications. The current term expires on July 31, 2023.
Mr. Juan Atkins and Ms. Billie Brooks expressed a desire to continue to serve as members of the board. Attached are the copies of letters from both Mr. Atkins and Ms. Brooks requesting another term on the pension board, along with their resumes and board applications. They have met all requirements for board certification.
The Police Pension Board meets quarterly at 1:00 p.m. in the police training room located at the Port Center.
