The City’s Water Treatment Plant (WTP) experienced electrical issues including a voltage drop on Saturday, November 2, 2019 that caused damage to some of the WTP’s high service pumps.
The City’s WTP has three (3) high service pumps out of service.
The City’s WTP has old equipment and if an additional high service pump were to go out of service, the following may occur:
1. The City’s WTP may not be able to adequately provide potable water service during peak hour flow conditions;
2. The water pressure in the City’s water distribution may drop to a point, which is a threat to public health, and require the City to issue a boil water notice to the customers within the City of Riviera Beach Utility Special District’s service area, in accordance with Chapter 62-555, Florida Administrative Code; and
3. The City’s WTP may not be able to adequately provide fire protection, which is a threat to public safety.
