Cross Fit Wild which is a local Cross Fit gym held one of 2 beach related cross fit competitions on the east coast at Municipal Beach in 2018. They are planning the second annual event November 2, 2019.
The closure of North Ocean Blvd. behind the Ocean Mall gives safe access to the competition for athletes and spectators, as well as give easy access to the businesses in Ocean Mall for the attendees.
The organizers utilize the businesses in the Ocean Mall for food and beverage during the event as they do not provide any for attendees.
The closure will be from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday November 2, 2019.
The organizers have involved mall tenants, Riviera Beach hotels and businesses.
Because it is unique to have this type of event on the beach (west of dune) it attracts competitors from around the East coast. There were over 200 athletes in 2018.
The economic impact of amateur athletics is positive through sales, bed tax, sales tax and exposure to the community.
The event is supported by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
The organizers will pay all fees and provide insurance listing the City as additionally insured.
