Bennett and Deborah Bennett, his wife, filed suit against the City of Riviera Beach and Riviera Beach Police Department for injuries sustained by Mr. Bennett arising from a vehicle accident that occurred on July 3, 2015 at MLK Blvd. and Avenue "G", Riviera Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida. On October 25, 2017, the Plaintiffs filed suit against the City, Case No.: 502017CA011717XXXXMBAI, alleging the City's police officer was negligent in the operation of the motor vehicle in which he was operating, and as a result, collided with the vehicle driven by Mr. Bennett. Both counsel for Mr. and Mrs. Bennett and the City mediated this matter on July 16, 2019, before a Certified Mediator, and counsel for the City, Risk Management and representatives of Gallagher Bassett concur settlement in the amount of $75,000 is in the City's best interest, subject to City Council approval. |
