Background/Summary:
The Parks and Recreation Department desires to host the Bridge The Gap 5K Run/Walk Charity Event here in the City.  The Event is produced by Take Stock in Children and will be managed by Palm Beach Race Management and the Town of Palm Beach Shores is expected to provide ancillary support.

Bridge The Gap 5K is a community race and breakfast event intended to raise awareness and money for the Take Stock in Children organization which provides services on behalf of under-served youth in Palm Beach County.  In particular, this program conducts activities such as college readiness, mentoring, and scholarship programs.

The charity event is a 3+ mile course scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2020, to take place from 6:00 am to 10:30 am.  It is generally short in duration and and involves limited street closures.  Such closures are:  one-lane on the Blue Heron Bridge, the intersection of Blue Heron Blvd. and North Ocean Drive as well as North Ocean Avenue east of the Ocean Mall for the placement of a start/finish area.  In concert, the City must provide a resolution to the State of Florida Department of Transportation to obtain a permit for the special use and temporary closure of said roads.

Palm Beach Race Management will market and promote the event across the state and nationwide through its various marketing tools.  Take Stock in Children will pay all fees associated with the event, secure and pay for police assistance and provide a certificate of insurance listing the City as additionally insured.
