Background
In 2006, the City Council approved of a site plan for the development of Brooks Subdivision for the construction of 22 single-family homes in the Northwest Sector of the City. Resolution Number 42-08 authorized the City to enter into a funding agreement with the Northwest Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Corporation to assist with the installation of infrastructure and improvements to the Brooks Subdivision. Following the project's issues and termination of construction activities, the City’s $500,000 contribution to the project was converted into liens that still remain on the four (4) eastern lots. The County has requested that the City consider waiving the liens with consideration that the infrastructure associated with the City’s contribution are installed as well as the fact that the liens would prevent development of the four (4) lots situated in the western portion of the development.
Palm Beach County is also requesting that the City consider a contribution of $10,000 to assist with the purchase of the four (4) lots from the current owner. At this time, the County desires to purchase the four (4) parcels at a price of $130,000, but falls short of the monies needed to effectuate the transaction by $10,000.
Further, the County is also requesting that the City provide it with incentives that it wishes the County to pursue as an integral component of this development project.
