The School District has approached the City concerning the use of the Complex during the reconstruction of Washington Elementary School. More specifically, the students who attend Washington Elementary School will be relocated to Lincoln Elementary School for approximately 18 months. During this time period, the School District is requesting use of the Complex to accommodate the need for additional parking spaces for staff persons and use of the gymnasium for physical education and special events activities.
In complement, the School District has advised that it will reconfigure the existing fence that abuts both properties, by constructing sidewalks and adjoining gates so as to ensure compliance of with ADA regulations.
Further, Parks and Recreation Department staff has incorporated language in the Agreement that stipulates requirements pertaining to access to the Complex after 2:00 p.m. This measure is necessary in keeping with licensing requirements placed on the City relative to its After-School Program.
