Recommendation/Motion: It is recommended that the Utility Special  District's Board of Directors accept the staff’s recommendation in selecting Holtz Consulting Engineers Inc., to perform these services under the Continuing Engineering Services Contract between the Utility Special District and Holtz Consulting Engineers Inc. executed July 16, 2018.

Background/Summary: 

One of the pumps at the Utility Special District’s potable water repump station located at Avenue “U” has recently failed and the other pump is very old and likely to fail. As a result of the failure and probable failure of the other pump has seriously compromised the ability to pump water into and out of this potable water ground storage tank.  This repump station is critical in maintaining water quality and water pressure for the western portion of the Utility Special District’s potable water distribution system; and is critical for maintaining adequate water supply during peak consumption and fire protection; and the integrity of the piping for the influent fill line to the potable water ground storage tank has been weakened and there is a likelihood of failure; and this project will improve the integrity and reliability of the potable water distribution system.

A. Finance Department Comments:
This agenda also includes an item for Avenue C repairs to be paid from the same Project 18157. Currently there is $1,150,002 available. This item for Avenue U is being approved at this time as overall funding is available to cover this resolution. Funding for Avenue U will be addressed on a separate resolution.
