| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | Marisa Vega Trew, as Plaintiff, brought suit against the City of Riviera Beach for injuries she sustained from a vehicle accident at Blue Heron Blvd. and N. Congress Avenue, Riviera Beach, Florida, on November 4, 2016. Ms. Vega Trew filed case no. 502017CA009339XXXXMB against the City on October 18, 2017, alleging that the City's police officers were negligent in the operation of their motor vehicles by engaging in a high speed pursuit that resulted in the pursued vehicle colliding with Ms. Vega Trew's vehicle. On January 28, 2019, the parties attended mediation in which Counsel for the City negotiated and proposed a settlement agreement to settle the case for $90,000, which includes attorneys fees and costs, subject to City Council approval. On February 20, 2019, the members of City Council, along with the City Manager, the City Attorney, and outside counsel for the City met in a closed door session to discuss settlement negotiations. |
