Recommendation/Motion: The staff recommends that the Utility Special District, Board of Directors approve this waiver of fees for City of Riviera Beach Utility Special District (USD) customers who are employed by the Federal Government and are financially impacted by the Shutdown.

Background/Summary: 

The United States Federal Government Shutdown (Shutdown) it has a negative effect on a number of City of Riviera Beach Utility Special District (USD) customers who are employed by the Federal Government and are financially impacted by the Shutdown.

 

It is in the best interest to assist the financially impacted customers currently employed by the Federal Government; and the USD will forbid any shutoff of water service to all customers who are furloughed Federal employees by the Shutdown.

 

The Board of Directors of the Utility Special District of the City of Riviera Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida shall waive all late fees owed by residential customers of USD who are employed and affected by a Federal Government Shutdown, and shall forbid any shutoff of water service to said customers during a shutdown.
