Discussion of Ordinance for Relocation Assistance for Displaced City of Riviera Beach tenants.

Recommendation/Motion: 

Direct staff to review and draft language to enact an ordinance, requiring landlords to take responsibility for the relocation of residents in Riviera Beach, when they are displaced due to unsafe and uninhabitable living conditions. Staff will bring this item back at the February 20th meeting for a vote by council.

Background/Summary: 

On Tuesday, January 15, 2019 Jackson, MI passed an Ordinance for Relocation Assistance for Displaced Tenants  (6-1) on first reading at the City Council Meeting .

 

It is my hope to have a robust discussion concerning the issues that we are facing and  request staff to draft such ordinance to represent said request for the residents in Riviera Beach.
