Recommendation/Motion: 

Staff recommends that the City Council approve an Interlocal Agreement with the Port of Palm Beach for activities under the FY2016 Port Security Grant Program for reimbursement of up to $171.397.50 allotted from the Port's grant award with a 25% match of $57,132.50 totaling $228,530.00 to provide technology, equipment, and training, to support the Port's protective measures as identified within he Facility Security Plan.

Background/Summary: 

The United States Department of Homeland Security, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, awarded $1,000,000.00 to the Port of Palm Beach from the FY2016 Port Security Grant Program (Award #EMW-2016-PU-00572).  The Port of Palm Beach has allotted for reimbursement up to $171,397.50 in Federal Grant funds, with a 25% match of $57,132.50 to provide technology, equipment, and training, to support the Port of Palm Beach's protective measures as identified within the Facility Security Plan.

 

 

Funding will be used to pay the annual ShotSpotter FLEX Subscription (three square miles) and to purchase Ballistic Vests for the Special Response Team.

 

 

The provisions of this Interlocal Agreement between the City of Riviera Beach and the Port of Palm Beach are for activities to be performed at the request of the federal government, and in conjunction with, preparation for, or in anticipation of a terrorist event.
