GRIFFIN DAVIS, SR. STREET”; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Recommendation/Motion: City staff recommends City Council ratify the action taken place on October 17, 2018 and execute the resolution for same.

Background/Summary: 

The section of West 30th Street from Broadway to Avenue “T is platted road right-of-way.  Rev. Griffin Davis, Sr. was born in Riviera Beach on West 30th Street, lives on West 30th, and is the founder and pastor of Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church located in the great City of Riviera Beach.  The community has requested the renaming of the aforementioned section of West 30th Street from Broadway to Avenue “T” to “Rev. Griffin Davis, Sr. Street” and has provided City Staff with a neighborhood petition, signed by the property owners along West 30th Street.  During the October 17, 2018 the City Council was presented with a draft resolution requesting that 30th Street be renamed and the city council voted in the affirmative to rename the street.     This item is to ratify the vote and provide a resolution for same.    The Mayor and City Council finds that the renaming of the section of West 30th Street from Broadway to Avenue “T” to “Rev. Griffin Davis, Sr. Street” is appropriate.
