A proposed constitutional amendment will be placed on the 2018 general election ballot as Amendment 1 and is sponsored by the Florida Legislature.  The proposed change exempts the assessed valuation of homestead property greater than $100,000 and up to $125,000 for all levies other than school districts.  The expected cost is estimated at $644.7 million per year, resulting in either service reductions or tax hikes.  The purpose of this resolution is to request that residents consider the impacts of the amendment.

If this Amendment is approved the impact to the City of Riviera Beach is estimated to be $575,000 to the General Fund.
