| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | The term of office for the Police Pension Board Fifth Member is an unexpired term which was held by Mr. Ron Reilly who is now deceased. Mr. Reno Wells is a former City of Riviera Beach Police Lieutenant who previously served on the Police Pension Board for 10 and half years. Mr. Wells was the only advisory board application received for the Fifth Member seat. In accordance with Section 14.75(a) of the City of Riviera Beach Code of Ordinance, a vote took place during the Police Pension Board meeting on April 23, 2018 electing Mr. Wells as the Fifth Member. Therefore, it is requested that City Council confirm the appointment of Mr. Wells as the Fifth Board member. The term of office for all board members is four (4) years and Mr. Wells will serve on an unexpired term which expires October 2021. Also attached is an email from Benefits USA, the Police Pension Administrator explaining the selection of the fifth member at their special pension board meeting. Mr. Wells has his CPPTP Certificate from the FPPTA, however he has to take a re-certification course to become re-certified. Therefore, staff is requesting the City Council to confirm appointment of Mr. Wells to serve on the Police Pension Board.
The Police Pension Board meets quarterly at 1:00 p.m. in the Police Training Room located at the Port Center. The next scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018. A copy of the duties and responsibilities and composition of the existing board member list is included with this package.
