A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVIERA BEACH, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, ENTERING INTO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH PALM BEACH COUNTY FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A DECORATIVE STREET LIGHTING SYSTEM ON CONGRESS AVENUE FROM 45TH STREET TO BLUE HERON BOULEVARD TO BE CONSTRUCTED BY FDOT UNDER PROJECT (FM#436893-1-52-01) AND ACCEPTING OBLIGATION FOR CONTINUED MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE STREETLIGHTS ONCE INSTALLED BY FDOT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Background/Summary: 

In 2014 the City of Riviera Beach made application through the Metropolitan Planning Organization for lighting improvements along Congress Avenue. The City of Riviera Beach desires for the Florida Department of Transportation to make improvements to Congress Avenue to accomplish the installation of decorative streetlights. The projects will be constructed completely within right-of-way owned by Palm Beach County. After construction of the Projects the City of Riviera Beach agrees to appropriate such funds as may be necessary for the continued operation and maintenance of the streetlights.

 

 

Staff requests that City Council approve the resolution for the execution of an Interlocal Agreement with Palm Beach County for the operation and maintenance of the decorative streetlights on Congress Avenue.
