Background/Summary: 

Staff is planning and Council has budgeted for an Independence Day Celebration on July 4, 2018. The day will include activities at Bicentennial Park culminating in a fireworks display in the Lake Worth Lagoon. 

 

Part of the planning includes public safety, a parking plan, shuttle plan and other functions to make the day as safe and enjoyable as possible.

 

One of the logistical elements we will employ for viewer safety is to close the northern eastbound lane of the Blue Heron Bridge and the northern west bound lane of the bridge. This is to provide buffers between vehicle traffic and viewers. 

 

In order to file for a permit with Florida Dept. of Transportation to close the lanes a resolution is needed to show the City's Involvement in the event.
