Palm Beach County Department of Housing and Economic Sustainability has requested a partnership with the City of Riviera Beach on the development and completion of the Brooks Subdivision. Jonathan B. Brown, Director will make a presentation to the City Council with an update on the County's activities and anticipated path forward to bring high quality, low income housing to the City of Riviera Beach.
In 2006 the City Council approved site plan for the development of Brooks Subdivision for the construction of 22 homes in the Northwest Sector of the City. Resolution number 42-08 authorized the City to enter into a funding agreement with the Northwest Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Corporation to assist with the installation of infrastructure and improvements of the Brooks Subdivision. Following the projects issues and termination of construction activity, the City’s contribution to the project was converted into liens that remain on the four eastern lots. The County has requested that they City consider waiving the liens as the infrastructure associated with the City’s contribution are installed and would prevent development of the four lots to the west.
