Recommendation/Motion: 

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVIERA BEACH, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR $325,000 FOR A PHASE 1 DESIGN, ENGINEERING AND PERMITTING FOR DREDGING AND DOCKS UNDER THE FLORIDA INLAND NAVIGATION DISTRICT WATERWAYS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM; AND UPON NOTIFICATION OF AWARD, ACCEPT THE GRANT AND AUTHORIZE THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO ESTABLISH THE BUDGET; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Background/Summary: 

Over the last 7 years the City has replaced, expanded and rebuilt the City Marina Docks which were at the end of useful life primarily using grant funding. A total of approximately 19.4 million dollars has been expended at the Marina of which 14.7 million dollars was grant funding contributed to JH Sprague Consulting, LLC.

 

Staff recommends submitting a grant application for funding for design, engineering and permitting which includes dredging the area of the marina to be able to utilize docks A, B, D, F, G, H and I for larger vessels and for construction of the final docks H and I and pad for future marina support structure; authorizing JH Sprague consulting LLC, to prepare the grant application and represent the City as required.
