Upon completion of labor negotiations between the City and SEIU, an agreement was reached to revise a number of articles in the bargaining agreement for a term of three (3) years, April 1, 2018 - March 31, 2021.
The City and SEIU held seven (7) negotiation sessions. Negotiations commenced July 21, 2017 and concluded February 8, 2018. SEIU membership rejected the Tentative Agreed Agreement on April 30, 2018.
The City and SEIU returned to negotiations on July 11, 2018. There were three (3) additional negotiations sessions. SEIU ratified the agreement on August 3, 2018 with a 137 - 9 vote and three (3) provisional ballots.
Staff recommends that City Council ratify the bargaining agreement between the City of Riviera Beach and the SEIU upon approval of the attached resolution.

There are technical changes related to dates of the contract. In addition, there is clarifying highlights as it relates to longevity.
ARTICLE 21: WAGES - Employees will receive a 12% increase effective April 1, 2018. In March 31, 2019 and March 29, 2020, all bargaining units employees will receive a two percent 2% increase in pay. In addition, employees will a receive a $500 one time payment following the first full pay period after ratification.
Language was removed concerning the evaluation tool for performance evaluations.
ARTICLE 22: SAFETY AND HEALTH - Language added regarding the purchase of work related shoes. Employees are given the options to obtain safety shoes from an approved vendor up to $150 with authorization from Risk Management. Safety shoes must meet safety standards.
ARTICLE 23: GENERAL PROVISIONS - Section 10 highlighted to emphasis the continuation of longevity.
