The City of Riviera Beach Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce that the Riviera Beach Chargers Cheer and Dance Bantam team are the Southeast Pop Warner 2017 National Champions. They placed first in the cheer division competition.

They (Bantam team) also placed second in the dance category.

The Chargers Cheer and Dance Program had a total of five teams participating in the 2017 season; approximately 80 participants and volunteers. Three of the five teams advanced to the Pop Warner Cheer and Dance National Competition; Jr. Pee Wee, Jr. Varsity, and Bantam Divisions.

Over the past three months, they participated at the local, regional and national levels. Their long list of accomplishments are as follows:

• Local Competition: (Pop Warner Treasure Coast Cheer and Dance Competition at David Anderson Middle School in Stuart, Florida in October 2017).

  • Junior Pee-Wee, Junior Varsity, and Bantam teams, all Placed 1^st in both Cheer and Dance.

  • Bantam team won the 2017 Dance Grand Champion for highest overall score.

  • The Chargers Football, Cheer and Dance program received a check for $500.00 dollars for having the largest growth program in the Treasure Coast Conference.

• Regional Competition: (Southeast Pop Warner Cheer and Dance Competition, held in Kissimmee, Florida, in the Silver Spurs Arena, Thanksgiving weekend):

  • Bantam team placed 1^st in the Cheer Category and 1^st in the Themed Dance Division.

  • Junior Pee-Wee team placed 4^th in the Themed Dance Division.

  • Junior Varsity team placed 3^rd in the Pom Dance Division.

• National Championships: All three teams advanced to Pop Warner National Competitions at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Disney on December 4^th thru the December 7^th, 2017. There was over 300 cheer and dance teams competing.

  • Bantam team placed 1^st (2017 National Champions) in the Cheer Category and 2nd^st in the Dance Division.

  • Junior Varsity team placed 3^rd in the Pom Dance Division.

The Bantam team received an invitation to compete at the YCADA Global competition that will be held in the Richmond, Virginia for winning 1^st place in the dance and cheer competitions, on January 5^th and January 6^th, 2018.
