A resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the agreement between the City and Palm Beach County to accept Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $177,587 from Palm Beach County for fiscal year 2017-2018 for the reconstruction of W. 36th Street from Avenue O to President Barack Obama Highway, Avenue N from W. 36th Street to W. 35th Street, W. 30th Street and W. 28th Street from Avenue R to Avenue O, and Avenue O from W. 30th Street to W. 27th Street; authorizing the Director of Finance and Administrative Services to set up a budget and appropriate fund balance from 108-1116-541-0-6302 in the Paving and Drainage Construction Fund in the amount of $177,587; and providing an effective date.


Recommendation/Motion: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the resolution.

Background/Summary: 

The City’s annual submission of an application to Palm Beach County Department of Department of Economic Sustainability for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for FY 2017-2018 for the reconstruction of W.36th Street from Avenue O to President Barack Obama Highway, Avenue N from W.36th Street to W. 35th Street, W. 30th Street and W. 28th Street from Avenue R to Avenue O, and Avenue O from W. 30th Street to W. 27th Street; which is identified in the Northwest Neighborhood Strategy Area has been granted. Palm Beach County has approved the application in the amount of $177,587 for the aforementioned project.

 

Staff requests City Council approval to accept the County (CDBG) funds in the amount of $177,587 and approve construction of W.36th Street from Avenue O to President Barack Obama Highway, Avenue N from W.36th Street to W. 35th Street, W. 30th Street and W. 28th Street from Avenue R to Avenue O, and Avenue O from W. 30th Street to W. 27th Street.
