Patrick Walsh injured his neck, shoulder, and back in three separate accidents during his employ as a Riviera Beach police officer. He filed three claims against the City. The first on January 12, 2000, another on October 5, 2007 and lastly one was filed on July 7, 2011, after treatment.
The attorney for Mr. Walsh and counsel for the City of Riviera Beach, Risk Management and representatives from Gallagher Bassett, Inc., met and mediated on June 22, 2017 and agreed to settle the claim for $165,000, which is subject to council approval. A memorandum explaining this case was sent to City Council on October 10, 2017.
Gallagher Bassett would pay $110,000 of the settlement and the City would pay the remaining $55,000, totaling $165,000, which includes attorney's fees and costs.
It is recommended that settlement in the total amount of $165,000 be approved.
