Subject: BOARD APPOINTMENTS- Requests City Council to confirm the re-appointment of the fifth member Mr. Ron Reilly, to continue serving on the Police Pension Board.

Recommendation/Motion: That City Council as ministerial duty, re-appointment Mr. Ron Reilly to serve as the fifth member on the Police Pension Board.

Background/Summary: 
The term of office for the Police Pension Board Fifth Member expires on October  2017.  In accordance with Section 14.75(a) of the City of Riviera Beach Code of Ordinance, a selection took place during the Police Pension Board meeting on August 28, 2017. Therefore, it is requested that City Council confirm reappoint of the current fifth board member Mr. Ron Reilly. The term of office for all board members is four (4) years.   Also attached is an email from Benefits USA, the Police Pension Administrator detailing Mr. Reilly's attendance record from February 23, 2015 through August 28, 2017, which indicates that he only missed two (2) quarterly meetings. Also Mr. Reilly  has met all the requirements for pension certification.  Therefore, staff is requesting the City Council to confirm re-appointment of Mr. Reilly to serve on the Police Pension Board.

 

The Police Pension Board meets quarterly at 1:00 p.m. in the Police Training Room located at the Port Center. The next scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017. A copy of the duties and responsibilities and composition of the existing board member list is included with this package.
