Background/Summary:

The City Clerk was directed to advertise acceptance of applications for the Charter Review Advisory Committee for 45 days; this was carried out. April 19, 2017 was the deadline for accepting applications and four applications were received. Recently, the City Attorney and Councilperson Davis Johnson submitted names for appointment which brought the total to eight possible appointments. The resolution calls for seven regular appointments and two alternates; however, if the elected officials desire to do so, they may proceed with the names submitted.

The City Clerk will be in contact with the Florida Institute of Government at FAU for assistance in obtaining an outside facilitator for this committee. The Office of the City Attorney will choose outside counsel who will be responsible for assisting the committee with legalities as well as drafting the proposed ordinance for review by the City Attorney or designee prior to presenting to the elected officials.
