| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | The City's Comprehensive Plan and Code of Ordinances controls and directs development and uses throughout the City. Pursuant to Section 163.3191(1), Florida Statutes, at least once every 7 years, each local government in the State shall evaluate its comprehensive plan to determine if plan amendments are necessary to reflect changes in state requirements in this part since the last update of the comprehensive plan, and notify the state land planning agency as to its determination. By Ordinance Number 3073, the City of Riviera Beach’s Comprehensive Plan was last amended on October 6, 2010. As such, the City is reviewing its Comprehensive Plan to ensure that the City meets the regulations set forth in the State statutes and to establish new goals, objectives, and policies for the City’s residents, visitors, and business owners.
Pursuant to Rule Chapter: 73C-49.002, Florida Administrative Code, local governing bodies shall submit their evaluation and appraisal notification letter to the Department of Economic Opportunity, Bureau of Community Planning in accordance with the schedule set forth in Rule Chapter 73C-49.002. In order to amend the City's Comprehensive Plan, the City must submit its evaluation and appraisal notification letter to the Department of Economic Opportunity, Bureau of Community Planning by July 1, 2017.
The intent of this Resolution is to grant the City Manager permission to transmit the evaluation and appraisal intent letter to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Bureau of Community Planning. Additionally, the intent of this Resolution is to authorize the Finance Director to transfer $25,000 from account number 001-0714-515-0-1201 to create an account number 001-0714-515-0-3107, entitled Comprehensive Plan Update. This new Comprehensive Plan Update account will serve as the primary account associated with the activities needed to amend the City of Riviera Beach’s Comprehensive Plan. |
